Spring is the Perfect Season for Outdoor Events & A Hog Roast Dundee Lunch

If you ask us, spring is hands-down the most underrated season of all. Sure, summer has its sunshine and warmth, and winter comes with its cosy vibes and holiday spirit, but spring? It’s got a charm all its own that often gets overlooked. We might even go as far as saying it’s our favourite season!

What makes spring so special? It’s the perfect in-between. The weather is just the right temperature – warm enough to enjoy outdoor celebrations, but not so hot you’re wilting in the sun. It’s like the earth is giving us a fresh start after the long, dreary winter, and we can’t get enough of that new beginning energy. As caterers, Hog Roast Dundee especially looks forward to spring because it means outdoor events are back in full swing! There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by blooming flowers, vibrant greenery, and people enjoying themselves at a lively event.

Last weekend, Hog Roast Dundee had the pleasure of catering for a wonderful country fair at a local farm here in Dundee. The event had it all: pony rides, a petting zoo, sheepdog herding competitions, carnival games, and even agricultural equipment displays! With hundreds of locals buying tickets, it was the perfect way to celebrate spring – and of course, a perfect opportunity for us to serve up some of our famous hog roasts.

At Hog Roast Dundee, we don’t just serve any hog roast. We bring out the big guns! We start with the freshest pork available, scoring the skin, rubbing it with salt, and giving it a good splash of water (it’s our secret to achieving that golden, crispy crackling – don’t tell anyone!). As the meat roasts, we surround it with our signature sage and onion stuffing, letting all those rich pork juices soak in for the ultimate flavour.

Of course, we made sure to cater for our veggie and vegan guests as well, with grilled vegetable skewers and optional halloumi chunks, paired with homemade tzatziki dip, flatbreads, and a touch of sweet chilli sauce to keep things interesting.
