Garden Party Hog Roast In Bridgend

As a caterer, I’ve always thought that you can never have too many parties in your lifetime. There might be a baby shower before you’re born which starts it off, then various birthday parties over the years, engagement, wedding and work parties, then a retirement party later in life. A lovely new customer of ours, Elsie, came to us recently to ask about catering for a garden party at her home with one of our popular hog roasts. She said there was no real reason for the party, except that she wanted to get together with some select friends. She was now in her 80s, sadly starting to lose her sight, and said she wanted to enjoy seeing people while she could. We couldn’t wait to make this day a success for Elsie.

Having never had caterers at her home before, Elsie wasn’t sure what to expect, so we walked her through it. We arrive at your venue in plenty of time to start cooking a pig, that either we can provide or you can. Elsie asked us to provide a pig that would comfortably feed 12 guests including herself, as well as some nice salad items. When we serve hog roasts, it’s usual that customers want a pig in a bun, as we call it – sliced pork with apple sauce and stuffing, and some salty crackling, too, in a lovely fresh roll. Elsie said this sounded wonderful, and booked us in for last Wednesday, to start serving mid afternoon for an early tea of a Hog Roast in Bridgend.                                                                                                                                     We arrived at Elsie’s house mid-morning on the day and set up our hog roasting equipment in her stunning back garden. There was plenty of room for the gazebo and we needed it as the sun was so hot. We chatted to Elsie about her life and family as we prepared and started to cook the pig, and she was very impressed with everything we told her about our work.

As the guests began to arrive, we prepared our salads there and then as usual, so they would be nice and fresh, and arranged our serving table. The guests all looked excited about their surprise menu, and gathered round to watch as we carved the meat and served them rolls full of goodness. Elsie was so thankful and promised to hire us again in the near future for another garden party and another Hog Roast in Bridgend..
